A big part of our jobs as diligent and dedicated PR people is to read a lot of news, from pop culture to politics and everything in-between. We thought it would be fun to share some of those stories here on the blog. Here’s a sampling of what we’ve been reading this week:

SCOTUS Run

If you thought your internship was tough, let’s take a moment to think about the broadcast interns up in D.C. on days like Wednesday. Following major Supreme Court rulings, interns sprint from the courtroom’s halls across to the broadcast trucks (which just so happens to be an impressive distance). Making media lists in the air conditioning doesn’t seem so bad, does it? Check out BuzzFeed’s animated-GIF-illustrated look at the 2013 Running of the Interns.

Foamhenge, Revisited

At a reader’s suggestion, Grantland’s Rembert Brown visited Southwest Virgina’s infamous Foamhenge, seemingly with the intention of making fun of it and it’s eccentric creator. But what he saw there (and at his stop at Natural Bridge on his way), wasn’t quite what he expected.

Location, Location, Location (Device)

MapBox analyzed location and platform data from more than 280 million tweets posted from mobile devices, and found some interesting geographic usage patterns. ZDNet says the map shows iPhone’s dominance in wealthy areas. Here’s the map zoomed into the greater Richmond area.

The 15%

Tipping can be a source of endless consternation for customers and even some workers. On Esquire’s Eat Like a Man blog, Elizabeth Gunnison Dunn give six reasons why tipping should be outlawed.
