The social media learning curve….DONE

With this blog post I am officially declaring the social media learning curve over….done…finis. Okay so while some will think I'm crazy, over the last six months our experience with clients and perspective clients has shown that this is the case. Sure, they (and we) don't know everything, we all never will, but there is no longer the gap that existed last year.  Most not only know about basic social media platforms and participate on them personally and professionally but they are ready for the next steps.  Are you? They want:

  • The ability to customize experiences for fans and followers which custom tabs and landing pages.
  • The ability to engage through giveaways, contests, coupons, quizzes, videos, pictures and solid information
  • The ability to take that conversation and relationship offline and drive traffic
  • The ability to move the conversation off the laptop and on to mobile devices
  • You to provide them with the strategic and tactics to meld all of this online stuff into their general marketing mix

And they want it now.  One year ago we were still teaching them the basics.   Now they want to skip 101 and want to go directly to advanced including mobile apps and communities. Is this a good thing?  Perhaps only if you're ready for it. Things are about to move very quickly.  The learning curve is over. Wondering if you're seeing the same thing we are?  Let me know.
