Richmond Social Media Club - postgame

Wow.

Sure it was loud, crowded and well…loud.  But the SMCRVA event tonight was a great success.

It was also long overdue.  Richmond needs groups like these with people who can bridge their own specialties through the use of technology and communications to help each other and the community in which they live.RVASMC

Tonight was just the beginning.  People who have been conducting virtual conversations for months on Twitter and Facebook met in person for the first time by exchanging hugs.   More than one person came up to me asking how my dad was which was gratifying on a number of levels.  Old friends reconnected.  New friendships and connections were made.

The power in the room was incredible and needs to be harnessed.  That is the next step for SMCRVA leadership who I know is already busy planning exactly how to do that.  Many in the room compete daily in the business world, many also already collaborate as well.  As a group we all can do amazing things.

Congrats to the leadership and thanks to AnnMarie at Morton’s, we ate and drank her out of house and home.

Would love to hear what others have to say about such a great night.  Go for it.
