Random SM/PR thoughts

Busy days coming up but I wanted to share these random thoughts and get your feedback on them.

  • IRL:  I had the pleasure of meeting some of my Twitter friends “In Real Life” at events and during some informational interviews over the last week or so.  It’s a great thing to cement these relationships in person.  It’s the first thing I mention when people tell me they “don’t get Twitter.”  It’s about the relationships you create.

  • Social media rules of engagement:  I’ve been reading a lot about the “rules” lately.  A great source for this is Brain Solis’ new book, “Engage.”  He includes a basic roadmap and best practices used by major companies and organizations.  I’ve been asked to give some counsel on this and will borrow from him in the coming weeks.

  • Video:  So I download the latest Ustream APPS on my droid and I-Touch recently and epiphanied that I could broadcast live video from my phone.  Whoa.  The world opened up quickly.  The former TV guy in me is reemerging. You may been seeing a lot more of my face in future blog and Facebook posts.  Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing.

  • The marriage of Facebook and websites:  Facebook is making this easier and it is something we are currently exploring.

  • Mobile:  Recent Foursquare experiences and client conversations have put our thoughts in this arena on steroids.  What is PR’s role in mobile?  is Foursquare and its “geo” competitors real or a fad?  Should everyone be developing their own APPs?

Okay, random thoughts out of my system.  Now’s it’s your turn to chime in on one, some or all of these.

Ready, GO!!!
