Facebook messaging: Business goes social?

This just in:  Mark Z. wants access to your inbox.

Unveiled today, Facebook Messaging which sounds a lot like the Facebook version of email or Gmail or just add "mail" to anything.

They swear it isn't the "email killer" and maybe it isn't because as with many new products the Facebook folks do a poor job of explaining exactly what it is and you have to actually play with it to find out.

You will be offered an @facebook.com address and you will be able to "message" across platforms including SMS, email, chat, etc.

But again Facebook buries the lead here.  In the coming months, the system will be incorporated into Microsoft Office, so you will be able to share Word, Excel and Powerpoint attachments using Office apps.

This will make it that much easier for Facebook to keep the social user online and using Facebook not just for social exchanges but for business exchanges as well.

The lines between the two are blurring already.  This move means Facebook is speeding the transition.

And Facebook means business.
