Guest Post: Favorite Marketing Podcasts

From the start, we’ve always believed heavily in partnerships—to the point that Jon and Josh made it part of the agency’s name. One of the great advantages of partnering with other firms is getting to tap into the expertise and experience of people outside our Shockoe Bottom walls. Recently I was discussing my favorite podcasts with Sharif Ewees from 28 Media, a fellow avid podcast listener, and when he offered to write up this guest post, we jumped at the chance. — Tony Scida

I like podcasts. A LOT. At last count, I subscribe and actively listen to over 50 of them. I listen in the car, while walking the dog, doing chores around the house, or whenever I have a few spare moments away from my computer. I’ve even caught myself staring at my podcast app, mindlessly clicking Refresh the way some people check their email, in hopes of a fresh batch of downloads.
I subscribe to all sorts of topics (news, culture, comedy, food, and countless NPR shows), but the majority of them are business and marketing related. Here are a few of my favorites:
Duct Tape Marketing
Hosted by John Jantsch, the Duct Tape Marketing podcast is a biweekly interview show with authors, business owners, and other leaders of the marketing industry. Jantsch is also the author of Duct Tape Marketing, The Referral Engine, and other marketing books.
Marketing Over Coffee
The Marketing Over Coffee podcast is just that… two marketing pros, John Wall and Christopher Penn, meet at a(n occasionally loud) coffee shop once a week and chat about that week’s industry news. BONUS: they also have an active LinkedIn discussion group.
Startups for the Rest Of Us
Decidedly more tech-focused than the others, the Startups For The Rest of Us podcast is a weekly podcast with two software developers, each building a software application. They cover things like email marketing, audience segmentation, landing page optimization, social media marketing and other online marketing topics.
Small Business Big Marketing
Hosted by Australian business owner Timbo Reid, with an infectious enthusiasm for marketing, Small Business Big Marketing interviews business owners of all shapes and sizes. The wide variety of industries keeps things interesting, and I always walk away with at least one actionable idea.
