Plays of the month: March 2020

We do something every week here at The Hodges Partnership called Plays of the Week (POTW), which is a fun way for us to celebrate successes internally. Every Friday afternoon, an email goes out to our office highlighting some wins from the week. Sometimes it’s a big media hit, other times it’s recognizing someone who is working hard to bring a strategy to life.

In the spirit of all things positive, we’re going to start sharing some of our top plays each month with you. Here’s a look back at some fun wins from March!

The VCCS team has been chugging full steam ahead on a variety of projects. Casey presented the team’s dual enrollment branding and awareness project to college leaders; Laura Elizabeth has interviewed several students for success stories (she also wrote the new website, too); and Aidan and Amanda have helped keep FastForward moving ahead and adapting to the changing landscape of education and training in Virginia.

In times of crisis, our client Mercy Chefs stays busy. They started the month in Nashville in response to devastation left behind by tornadoes, and ended on a higher note getting recognized by Southern Living as a Hometown Hero, included in the same print spread as none other than Dolly Parton. Meg and Sean have helped get other coverage, including Garden & Gun and local outlets in Hampton Roads.

Amanda made headlines as she managed press conferences and client events throughout March. In one weekend alone, she helped Evergreen Cemetery announce its master plan through the news media, securing coverage in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, 8 News and VPM, all while coordinating fantastic coverage for GalaxyCon Richmond’s event.

Our work with Kroger Mid-Atlantic spans multiple states and over 100 stores. Just like grocery stores have been busy during this pandemic, Lindsay, Meg and Evans have, too. Kroger has been rolling out a number of policies to take care of its associates who working on the front lines, including paid leave, appreciation bonuses and wage increases. Our team has worked with Kroger on everything from messaging to media outreach.

There are a few crisis clients we’ve been providing counsel and guidance for their COVID-19 responses. Big shoutouts to Josh, Greg and Paulyn for helping those clients navigate this new, odd space.
