I feel the same way….about the future

One of the wonderful things about “getting out there,” (Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, etc.) is that you find others who have been wondering the same things you’ve been wondering.

Not everyone has figured out this “future of PR” thing but they are asking the right questions and betting on PR’s place in the new media world.  And the odds are looking pretty good.

Recent blog posts reflect these thoughts:

  • Ronn Torossian is asking the right questions about what exactly PR is these days, an issue all of us are struggling with.
  • Jason Falls’ recent blog post as the Twittersphere in a Twitter, but puts PR in the center of the debate of whether we should treat bloggers like media and how they treat us back.

  • And Beth Harte is right on the mark about how in PR everything that is new is really old again (or should that be the other way around ???!!!)

The future of PR firms and what they do, how we treat blogs and bloggers as they expand their influence and how we create “new media relationships” are all the questions of the day.

The last one in particular is interesting.  As media relations professionals, we all have our “go to” media relationships.  While I am not a believer in mass blasting there are times where a more mass approach has its place.  As much as you can try you can’t have a deep relationship with EVERYBODY so we will need to establish a happy mean in the new media space, just like we have in the old.
