If I could work at a different job every week for the rest of my life, I would. I’m always interested in what other people do! Of course, this would include a week-long stint co-hosting the Today Show and a gig as a taste tester at Ben & Jerry’s. Thankfully, life at a PR agency gives me the opportunity to learn about new industries all the time.
I truly enjoy supporting all my clients, but any chance I get to publicize ChildFund International’s programs, I really like. I did a lot of work surrounding the East Africa drought in 2011, connecting our staff to international reporters on the ground in Kenya. It meant some early days (a seven hour time difference!), but it was very fulfilling in that the stories helped spread awareness about how dangerous the drought had become.
I did PR for Richmond’s first Cookies for Kids’ Cancer bake sale in 2010. We raised more than $35,000 for pediatric cancer research. To date, it’s the highest grossing bake sale in Cookies for Kids’ Cancer history.
I laugh. I try not to go home without at least one good chuckle a day. It’s important to do excellent work and go above and beyond for clients … but, you must have fun in the process!
