Summer Hiring Stats Sizzle

Snagajob, the largest hourly employment network for job seekers and employers, serves 35 million job seekers and companies nationwide – Wendy’s, Kohl’s and FedEx, among others.

Goals

Snagajob has built its brand and established its reputation not with advertising but on the backs of a sustained public relations program, including trade and consumer media relations. Their goal is to continue to raise awareness about its services while at the same time position itself as an authority on hourly employment.

Strategy

Our longtime association with Snagajob has consistently leveraged media interest in seasonally related job stories, including those surrounding Labor Day and end-of-year holiday hiring. Another peak hiring season is the summer, when armies of teenagers get out from behind their books and video games and get behind cash registers and hostess stations. To take advantage of trade and consumer media interest in summer jobs, we positioned Snagajob as a source for data on the season’s hiring outlook. Snagajob’s annual survey of more than 1,000 hourly hiring managers provides valuable data to reporters, especially as a year-over-year metric through which trends can be determined.

Results

The past five years have seen increasing media interest in and coverage of Snagajob’s annual summer hiring index. The most recent survey received widespread media coverage in both business and consumer outlets, including PBS’s Nightly Business Report, CNN’s Headline News, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal Sunday, USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, and numerous daily newspapers and trade outlets such as QSR.
